Wagering Guide

Note: The information below is no longer relevant as the Wonderland Greyhound Park is no longer operational. The purpose of this information is to serve as a historic guide as to the way the wagering used to work at Wonderland.

Race track wagers are referred to as Pari-Mutuel. Pari-Mutuel, French in origin, means "to wager amongst ourselves." Fans wagering at the track are betting against and amongst one another, not against the race track.

The track has no financial interest in the outcome of the race, we simply hold the money, returning the winner's shares in accordance with state laws.

How it works:
Wagers made at the track are placed into individual betting pools: i.e. Win, Place, Show, Quiniela, etc. Each wager offered has its own betting pool. The race track serves as an agent, or broker, withholding the established "take-out." This take-out is divided among the state, purses for greyhound owners and the race track. The monies remaining in each betting pool is returned to the winning ticket holders.

Greyhound racing is considered by many to be the most consistent and predictable form of racing. Purchasing a ticket on your greyhound selections and cheering them on to victory is fun and exciting.
Wagering on the greyhounds is easy!

How to bet:
State your wager in this order:

  1. Amount ($) of your bet.
  2. Type of bet (Win - Place - Show - Quiniela - Trifecta, etc.)
  3. Post Position Number of the greyhound(s).

Examples:
I'd like $2 to Win on # 5
I'd like a $2 Quiniela box on # 1, # 4 and # 8.

Remember to check your tickets and count your money before leaving the mutuel window. Claims that a wrong ticket has been punched must be made prior to your leaving the window. Tickets cannot be changed or cancelled after leaving the mutuel window.

Hold all tickets until the race has been declared official by the Judges. No claims will be honored for mutilated, lost or destroyed tickets.

Advance Betting
Advance betting is available daily for all tracks. Individual race tickets may be purchased from the time the Mutuel windows open until closing time (approximately 2:00 a.m.)

Program Accuracy
Every effort is made to ensure the accuracy of our program. Track management is not responsible however for errors that might occur. In the event of an error in the official program, the announcer will broadcast any corrections. The call of the Announcer is not final, only the Judges' decision is final.

Incomplete Transactions
WGP assumes no responsibility for transactions not completed before the tote machines are locked. Please wager early to avoid being shut out.

How the Odds Are Determined
Odds for each starter in a race (horse or dog) is an indication of its popularity in comparison with others in the race. Odds are calculated by dividing the amount wagered on a given dog or horse into the total amount wagered, less the take-out

Quiniela You must select two greyhounds; if these two greyhounds finish first and second in either order you collect the posted payoff.
Trifecta You must select the first three greyhounds to finish in exact order. Be sure to ask for your selections in the order which you think they will finish.
Superfecta You must select the first four greyhounds to finish in exact order.
Pick-3 To win the Pick-3 you must select the winner of three consecutive races (Races 10 - 11 - 12 of the evening card). Wagers must be placed prior to the first Pick-3 race.
Pick-4 To win the Pick-4 (offered on Races 5 - 6 - 7 - 8 of the Twilight card and races
6 - 7 - 8 - 9 of each evening card) you must select the winner of four consecutive races. Wagers must be placed prior to the first Pick-4 race.
Big-Q You must select the winning Quiniela combination in two consecutive races. Big-Q wagers must be made prior to the running of the first designated Big-Q race. The Big-Q is a separate wagering pool, not part of the regular Quiniela Pool.
Twin-Trifecta To win the Twin-Trifecta, you must select the winning Trifecta in two designated races. When your Trifecta selections finish in correct order during the first Twin-Trifecta race, you collect the posted pay-off and have a free exchange into the second half Jackpot. That exchange ticket is used to select the three greyhounds in exact order for the second Twin-Trifecta race. Second half exchange ticket holders correctly selecting the second half Twin-Trifecta win or share in the Jackpot.

Twin-Trifecta
Force-Outs

Twilight-Twin is offered on the early card every Tuesday and Saturday. Once the early Twin reaches $5,000 it is capped and forced during the next Twilight performance.
Evening Twin-Tri Offered on races 7 and 9 of every evening performance. The pool is forced out on the 2nd and 4th Thursday evening monthly. During Thursday's force-out in the event no exchange ticket has correctly selected the winning combination, in correct sequence, as the first three betting interest, during the second-half, then all first-half winners who exchanged their ticket(s) into the second-half share Thursday's new Jackpot equally.
Tri-Super Offered nightly on races 3 and 5. Race 3 - Select the three (Trifecta) greyhounds you think will finish first, second and third in exact order. Winners - Cash your winning ticket(s) prior to Race 5 to be eligible for the Tri-Super carry-over Jackpot. Have second half Superfecta selections ready prior to cashing winning first half tickets. Race 5 - Select the four (Superfecta) greyhounds you think will finish first, second, third and fourth in exact order. Exchange winning first-half tickets, at no additional cost for your chance at the Jackpot. The Tri-Super is Capped at $10,000 and is forced out during the next Evening's Performance
